Mario Marin began his Union affiliation in 1988 while working at a local grocery store represented by UFCW. Mario graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and in 1996 began working as a Special Projects Union Representative for UFCW assisting the Union with several organizing projects. In 1997 Mario transitioned into the role of Union Representative where his duties focused on organizing the unorganized and providing representational services to Union members working in the retail industry. Mario has been promoted to Director of Meat Packing, Processing and Manufacturing.
During Mario’s career in the labor movement he has been responsible for a wide variety of duties including organizing the unorganized, negotiating contracts and preparing the Union’s position in disputes involving interpretation and application of contracts. In addition to his responsibilities as Recorder for UFCW Local 1546 he currently sits as a trustee on a number of health and welfare and pension funds.
